We need to develop the new green industrial revolution that develops the new technologies that can confront and overcome the challenge of climate change; and that above all can show us not that we can avoid changing our behaviour but we can change it in a way that is environmentally sustainable. — Tony Blair

His passions for construction, engineering and real estate development really took off when he started his own construction company in 2002. As with most Entrepreneurs, you always hear how something like a simple hobby turns into a passion, Ranjiv’s story here is no different.

Ranjiv Jain currently resides in Seattle where he was born and raised. Ranjiv graduated from the University of Washington with an Industrial Engineering degree and speaks fluent Hindi. Ranjiv’s concentrations in Structural Engineering as well as Civil Engineering eventually contributed to his success in the construction industry after a prominent career at Microsoft and Oracle.

With over 15 years of experience in training and management, Ranjiv has achieved awards of excellence and recognition for Customer Service, while overseeing the areas of technical management of systems as well as working closely with customers and deliverables.

Ranjiv’s passion for construction and engineering came from an early age when he started building and racing pine wood derby cars. Ranjiv tends to have a competitive, yet friendly and playful spirit and has never lost sight of that, especially today in business. As small as that may sound, Ranjiv looks back as those days as really being the catalyst for pursuing his dream of receiving an engineering degree from the University of Washington. Since those derby days Ranjiv has grown up a lot and went on to achieve an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Washington. His concentrations in Structural Engineering, Process Management, Systems Control and Civil Engineering eventually led him to a great career in the construction industry and turning a hobby into a passion and career.

Utilizing his background and experience he cultivated at his tenure at Oracle and Microsoft, as well as his focus in Industrial Engineering he dramatically reduced construction costs to an average retail cost of $125.00 per square foot. Ranjiv knew that Project and Supply Chain Management would be one of the keys to saving money for the bottom line. Passion and attention to detail is what Ranjiv is really good at and his work really demonstrates that.

As the pricing for simple utilities skyrocketed and these costs started to become prohibitive he ventured off in early 2004 to learn about solar energy, and water conservation strategies and green building. In 2007 the increase in energy efficient technologies started becoming main stream and now sustainable development practices had started to create a buzz that became more than just a fad. The word “Green” started off as something that was synonymous to tree huggers and hippies and with the tradeoffs being expensive and not really known. Being socially responsible was one thing he did value as well as being very passionate about building homes, connecting the two became natural. Ranjiv wanted something that would be energy efficient, lowered the impact to our storm water streams, preserving the natural hydrology and lowering the impact of development and expense of materials management. For the past 18 months Ranjiv has been learning about Building Green Practices and as a member of the USGBC and as a LEED Accredited Professional, and a rock solid Project Manager. Ranjiv’s systems for development and innovation take into consideration many aspects of eco friendly development and building long lasting relationships. Our usable practices for building and developing green as well as providing the necessary consulting services to have an integrated building development process that happens in the early design phases and follows the project past completion. LEEDAP Seattle is the focus for Construction and Design Solutions Inc.

In Ranjiv’s spare time he is loves physical fitness, woodworking, carpentry, travel and cooking.
